Mahomet-Seymour Dominates Track with Sweeping Wins in Individual Running Events Against Monticello

Mahomet-Seymour runners were victorious on Monday (April 8) in every individual running event – except the hurdles – and outdueled Monticello 84-57 at the Bulldogs’ Moose Handlin Track.

Jayvon Irwin outsprinted everyone in the 100 meters (personal-best 10.96 seconds). Travis Hoffman topped the field in the 200 meters (personal-best 23.94 seconds). Jaxon Themanson was triumphant in the 400 meters (personal-best 1:04.01).

In the 800 meters, top honors went to Cody Moen (personal-best 2:13.31). Kaleb Kasper was the winner in the 1,600 meters (4:53.50) and Ethan Ramirez prevailed in the 3,200 meters (personal-best 9:58.87).

In field events, Bulldog champions were Ty Clark (personal-best 14 feet, 3 inches in the pole vault) and Ryken Kirby (personal-best 20 feet, 7 inches in the long jump).

Two M-S relays came in first.

Sharing the baton on the 800-meter unit were Irwin, Alexander O’Brian, Kirby and Dylan Smith. Their final clocking was 1:33.35.

In the 1,600-meter relay, Lukas Carey, Ramirez, Lukas Nykaza and Henry McMurry teamed up for a winning time of 3:42.72.

Six Bulldogs scored runner-up finishes in running events.

They were: Parker Wilkins (personal-best 25.52 in the 200 meters), Izaiah Brotherton (personal-best 1;06.67 in the 400 meters), Grant Smysor (2:22.84 in the 800 meters), Ben Schultz (personal-best 5:00.55 in the 1,600), McMurry (personal-best 10:13.52 in the 3,200) and Cash Bryan (52.60 in the 300-meter hurdles).

The M-S runners-up in field events were Trevor Reeves (personal-best 41 feet, 1 inch in the shot put) and Camden Snodsmith (5 feet, 2 inches in the high jump).

The school’s 3,200-meter relay squad also took second with Schultz, Jackson Koontz, Blake Patrick and Jack Van Hoorn turning in a time of 9:59.40.

M-S will return to action on Friday (April 12) at Charleston.
