Dayten Eisenmann swished a team-high 15 points on Tuesday (Jan. 3) and the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team broke away from a 13-13 tie after one quarter to defeat visiting Rantoul, 51-45, in a non-conference contest.
M-S outscored the Eagles, 10-2, in the second stanza in the first of three consecutive home games.
Trey Peters contributed eight points to the Bulldogs’ cause and Wyatt Bohm added seven points. Adam Dyer also finished with seven points.
Teammates with six points apiece were Byron Lynch and Carter Selk. Lynch cleared a season-high seven rebounds and led the Bulldogs. Peters hauled down six rebounds as did Selk.
M-S produced assists on 16 of its 17 field goals with Eisenmann distributing five assists and Finn Randolph handing out four assists. Lynch had three assists.
M-S (7-7) will put its two-game winning streak on the line at home against Lincoln in an Apollo Conference game. When the schools played in November in the third-place game of Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Tournament, the Railsplitters knocked off the Bulldogs.
