Mahomet-Seymour Boys’ Soccer Nears Apollo Conference Title with Back-to-Back Wins Over Mattoon and Effingham

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ soccer team moved closer to an Apollo Conference championship with back-to-back league victories to start the week.

The Bulldogs scored a 3-1 win at Mattoon on Tuesday (Oct. 8) and followed up with a 1-0 victory at home over Effingham on Wednesday (Oct. 9).

Travis Hoffman scored the lone goal against Mattoon, with an assist from Noah Crane. Hayden Litteken posted four saves.

Hoffman has a team-leading 19 goals.

Colin Jackson hit two goals at Mattoon. Tate Kimball had the Bulldogs’ other goal.

Contributing assists were Crane and Litteken.

During his time in goal, Litteken recorded five saves.

M-S is 7-0 in Apollo Conference matches and can clinch no worse than a tie for the conference title on Thursday (Oct. 10) with a home match at Middletown Field against Mount Zion.

The Bulldogs have an overall season record of 13-5-1, including wins in 11 of their last 12 matches. Four of the wins have been by shutout.

Effingham’s season record is 15-2.
