Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball defeats Effingham

In a game that was tied, 16-16, after one quarter, Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team raced to a season-high point total on Saturday (Feb. 3) at Effingham and registered a runaway 80-46 victory.

Jackson Bohm collected team-best totals of 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Miles Woolsey tossed in 14 points and Cade Starrick netted 12 points. Landyn Hannah hit 10 points to go with five rebounds.

Lucas Dyer pitched in with eight points, nine rebounds and five assists. Braden Pagel connected for seven points.

Also reaching the scoring column for M-S were Timothy Anderson (three points), Gavin Bailey (two points), Ryken Kirby (two points) and Finn Randolph (two points).

The Bulldogs held a slender 29-25 halftime advantage, but took control in the third period with a 36-13 run.

On Thursday (Feb. 1), Bohm generated 22 points as M-S rallied to defeat visiting Charleston, 57-53.

Hannah wound up with 14 points, including four three-point shots.

M-S trailed, 43-36, entering the final period.

Dyer scored seven points for the Bulldogs, all points coming from the free throw line. Starrick recorded five points, Henry Wagner hit four points and Woolsey added three points. Pagel notched two points.

M-S (10-13) returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 6) at home against Urbana.
