Mahomet-Seymour basketball tops Champaign Edison

Hannah Martin scored a career-high 19 points on Wednesday (Oct. 12) as the Mahomet-Seymour eighth-grade girls’ basketball team won, 32-17 at home over Champaign Edison.
Breckyn Hess tallied seven points and Kenna Collins finished with six points.
The Bulldogs scored the game’s first 16 points and never trailed.
On Monday (Oct. 17), the eighth-grade Bulldogs handed Chiddix a 27-18 defeat in Normal. Martin dropped 13 points and Courtny Fonte added seven points. M-S held a one-point halftime lead.
On Tuesday (Oct. 18), the Bulldogs (now 12-2) earned their seventh win in a row, 28-18 at Clinton. Eight of the 14 uniformed players reached the scoring column, led by Fonte with eight points. Hess netted six points.
The M-S seventh-graders (11-3) dropped a 25-24 decision to Edison on Wednesday (Octl. 12) despite a late comeback bid.
The Bulldogs were down 22-12 in the third quarter.
Abi King netted a team-high 10 points, six of which came in the fourth stanza. Penelope Bird seconded her with six points.
On Monday (Oct. 17), M-S topped Chiddix in Normal, 20-13 in a game the Bulldogs led, 14-13, entering the fourth quarter.
Lily Freiman, Katie Hunter and Audra Martin all ended with four points.
On Tuesday (Oct. 18), the Bulldogs (now 11-3) scored a 27-18 victory over Clinton. Martin tallied a season-high 10 points. Marley Cloward contributed seven points.
M-S trailed at halftime, 9-8.
Both M-S teams return to action on Saturday (Oct. 22) at Teutopolis in a round-robin tournament that also includes Taylorville.
