Mahomet-Seymour Athletes Secure Runner-Up Finishes at Apollo Conference Indoor Invitational

Three Mahomet-Seymour athletes finished in the runner-up position on Saturday (March 9) in the Apollo Conference Indoor Invitational at Mount Zion.
Placing second were senior Jayvon Irwin (60-meter dash in 7.39 seconds), junior Travis Hoffman (60-meter hurdles, 9.30 hurdles) and sophomore Henry McMurry (1,600 meters, 4:42.10).
In the 3,200 meters, M-S had back-to-back placers.
Zach Wilcoski ran fifth (10:44.78) and Kaleb Kasper was sixth (10:45.52).
Two Bulldogs tied for sixth in the pole vault: Seth Christensen and Jackson Davis. They each cleared 10 feet, 11 inches. Also finishing in sixth place was Auggie Gaudio (1,600 meters, 4:53.47).
Hoffman was the team’s other top 10 individual, nabbing ninth in the long jump (19 feet, 2 inches).
The top finishing Bulldog relays included the same four runners in the same order. Blake Dillman, Cody Moen, Lukas Carey and Tate Bode were third in the 3,200-meter relay (8:45.91) and sixth in the 1,600-meter relay (3:51.87).
The other top-10 relay for M-S was the 800-meter unit, which took seventh in 1:42.79. Sharing the baton were Hoffman, Steffen Kellner, Tristan Nilson and Niccolo Bellini.
No team scores were tabulated.
M-S will return to action on Saturday (March 23) at the unofficial indoor state meet at Illinois Wesleyan University, in Bloomington.
