Mahomet Schnucks’ employee tests positive for COVID-19
Schnucks in Mahomet announced on June 22 that an employee working at 202 Eastwood Drive tested positive for COVID-19.
The employee who worked on June 20 reported that they did not experience symptoms on that day.
On Saturday Mahomet-Seymour Superintendent Lindsey Hall released an email saying that one student in one of the summer programs had tested positive for COVID-19.
There have been a total of 25 COVID-19 positive cases in Mahomet since mid-March.
Hall said a limited number of individuals were impacted. She also said that families had been notified by the high school administration.
“We are working with the Champaign Urbana Public Health District, as well as following our own protocols for responding to a situation such as this,” Hall wrote in an email. “All safety protocols for summer school and summer programming as conveyed to us by the Illinois State Board of Education and Illinois Department of Public Health earlier in June have been and will continue to be followed.”
Schnucks shared a similar email with their customers.
“We are sharing this news with you, our loyal Mahomet store customers, so that you can be aware of the measures we are taking to protect you and our teammates during the COVID-19 pandemic,” the email said.
When Schnucks learned of the diagnosis, the company brought in their third-party vendor to disinfect the area where the teammate worked, in addition to common areas like the restroom and breakroom.
“Our store is open and we are continuing to follow COVID-19 guidance from local, state, and federal agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), OSHA, and the local health department,” the email said.
Schnucks said that they require employees to wear company-provided facemasks while they are working, and also continue to request that our customers wear face coverings while shopping in our stores. Employees also have their temperature taken prior to taking their shift.
Other measures such as plexiglass barriers at checklanes, no longer allowing reusable bags, running hourly overhead announcements and floor signage to help make everyone aware of appropriate social distancing measures have been in place for a few months.
“There is so much we are doing to take care of ourselves and each other, and we want you to be assured of this: we remain focused on providing a clean, safe environment for you,” the email said.
