Mahomet Masonic Lodge finishes renovation

The Mahomet Masonic Lodge officially opened their renovated space with a ribbon-cutting ceremony during the Mahomet Auto Fest on July 11.

With new windows, an updated exterior, new columns, and awning, this was the first time the building located at 410 E Main St had been updated since 1949.

The group spent the spring and early summer months fundraising for the project. Alongside private donations, the Village of Mahomet gave Masonic Lodge #220 a $10,000 check.

Lodge Master Seth Emerson read, “The efforts of many of the brethren before you were put into ensuring the future of the craft, and a common ground for our ancient teachings and traditions. With Mahomet lodge having a history that spans 165 years in this building, having been finished construction in 1949 was indeed needing a renovation that embody the essence of masonry, as the remarkable vessel that it is.

“As I look here at the dedicated brethren here today, I’m reminded of the distinguished Masons who are unable to be here and the brethren who have been called from their labor to eternal rest. For the endeavors of this great Lodge, have been carried by a vast number of brethren to qualify for the remodeling of this structure.

“We did what we could collectively to be united in the best thoughts of our minds, the truest feelings of our hearts, and the noblest purposes of our souls to discharge the high obligations imposed on us by our relation to this illustrious fraternity. We celebrate the satisfaction that this lodge shall continue to assure a meeting place of universal peace and prosperity, seeking a noble brotherhood to advance the spirit of the truest patriotism, and everywhere, represent the most concentrated fidelity of our heavenly Father.

“As we venture into an ever-changing world of uncertainty, we can be assured that brotherly love will prevail.”
