School’s Out: Old Timey Halloween, October 21, Museum of the Grand Prairie
Don’t be spooked! We love to trick or treat every Halloween, but do you know where that tradition started? Visitors to the Museum of the Grand Prairie will be make their own Halloween masks, playing 1800s Halloween games, and learning about how Halloween traditions were shaped. A Lil’ History: Spooktacular History, October 27, Museum of the Grand Prairie
Join the Museum of the Grand Prairie for a spooky good time! Activities will include mask making, pumpkin painting, storytime and a game. Creepy Campfire Tales, October 25, Mahomet Public Library
Join the Mahomet Public Library as they gather around the campfire for some slightly spooky stories, songs, and crafts. Scary snacks will be served! Registration required.

Grace Church will host their annual Harvest Party on October 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. This great, indoor event includes door-t0-door trick-or-treating, food, inflatables and games in a safe, family-friendly environment.
Trunk or Treat
Small town Mahomet will come to life as Burgwald Eye Center hosts the second annual Trunk or Treat on October 28 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Main Street between Elm and Lincoln Streets.
The evening will include approximately 35 cars hosted by local businesses and organizations distributing candy from their themed cars. To accommodate the expected large crowd, trick-or-treaters will enter Main Street by the Masonic Lodge and exit near the Cornbelt Fire Department. All traffic will go one-way. At the end of the event, several service vehicles, including the Cornbelt Fire Department, Mahomet Police Department and the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office will be available.
Children can have their picture in Russell Park (the alley “park” that runs beside Paint Like Me) by Sweet Lemonade Photographer Heather Wanninger. Photos will be included in an online costume contest through Burgwald’s Facebook page.
All About Animals will have treats for both kids and pets. They will also host a Pet Costume Contest in Russell Park during the event and will supply prizes for the winner after voting ends. Ryann Kesler will take photos of the pets.
Village Trick-or-Treat Hours
Trick-or-Treaters are welcome to trick-or-treat at Village homes from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 31. Trick-or-Treat hours are rain or shine (moonlight, actually).
