Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Savannah Orgeron
Savannah Orgeron continues to leave her mark on the court as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team begins their 2022-23 season.
The 5’10” senior is closing in on 1,000 career points with about 150 more to go. The Illinois Community College recruit will likely reach that milestone as she is already the dominant force in the Bulldog offense, scoring in double figures in each of their first 8 games.
Orgeron kicked off the season as the MVP of the St. Joseph-Ogden Turkey Tournament, racking up 52 points in three games, including shooting 16 of 21 from the free throw line, to earn the tournament’s Free Throw trophy.
Orgeron went on to match her season-high 22-point performance against Mount Zion. In the three games leading up to that contest, Orgeron scored 16 against Metamora, including three 3-pointers, 20 against Urbana, and 19 against Bloomington Central Catholic. In a close game against Taylorville, she scored 15 points. Last night she tallied 14 points against Charleston.
The Bulldogs return to action on Dec. 9 at home against Effingham before hosting Unity on the Dec. 12.
