Coastal Carolina recruit Robert Byron won the Apollo Conference Championship title in the discus and shot put.

He threw 148 feet in the discus competition, winning by 18 feet, 4 inches. He threw 46 feet in the shot put.

A week earlier, the Mahomet-Seymour senior tossed the discus 160 feet, 5 inches, making it the eighth-best throw in Class 2A this season.

That throw was just three inches longer than Byron’s 160 feet, 2 inch throw to win the Pontiac Relays. He also won the shot put in that meet at 48 feet. Byron’s personal best in shot put is 49.25 feet.
