Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Reis Claybrooke
Reis Claybrooke has consistently led the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ golf team in their early season meets, earning him this week’s Athlete of the Week honors.
Claybrooke’s standout performance began on Monday, Aug. 19, when he shot a 70 and secured medalist honors in a playoff at the Urbana Tiger Kickoff Classic, where Mahomet-Seymour placed second as a team with a score of 312, trailing only Mount Zion.
At the Redbird/Raider Classic on Tuesday, Aug. 20, Claybrooke recorded an 83. The Bulldogs finished sixth out of 23 teams with a composite score of 306.
Claybrooke’s steady performances continued through the following meets. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Lake of the Woods, he shot a 41 as Mahomet-Seymour edged Monticello by one stroke in a dual meet.
On Friday, Sept. 6, Claybrooke posted the team’s best score with a 76 at the Danville Invitational, where Mahomet-Seymour tied for fourth place with a team score of 313.
Claybrooke’s strongest round came on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when he fired a season-best 33 to win medalist honors at the three-school meet at Rantoul’s Willow Pond Golf Course, leading Mahomet-Seymour to a dominant victory.
With consistent performances in each event, Reis Claybrooke has proven to be a key leader for the Bulldogs as they continue their season.
