Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Mahomet-Seymour Wrestling
With 32 dual meet wins under their belt, the Mahomet-Seymour wrestling team competes against Washington in the IHSA Elite 8 Friday.
The Bulldogs reached the state quarterfinals by defeating Chatham Glenwood, 37-34, on Tuesday. Tallen Pawlak (152 pounds), Brennan Houser (182 pounds), Camden Harms (285 Donovan Lewis (138 pounds), Reese Wilson (126 pounds), Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) and Caden Hatton (120 pounds) all won their matches to clinch the win for Mahomet-Seymour.
Other notable wins for Mahomet-Seymour during the 2022-23 season include its 9th consecutive Regional title, the Apollo Conference title, first place at the Marty Williams Invitational and the Tyler Cox Memorial Duals.
Last weekend, senior Mateo Casillas won the Class 2A 195-pound state championship. Casillas went undefeated among opponents from Illinois in the 2022-23 season.
