Mahomet and Seymour prepare for Fourth of July celebrations
Two of Mahomet’s favorite Fourth of July celebrations are set.
The Champaign County Forest Preserve will host this year’s Freedom Fest on July 1 at Mahomet’s Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve. Starting at 4 p.m. Music will fill the air. Following a tribute to service men and women fireworks will “Light up the Lake” around 9.
Freedom Fest admission is $2.00 per person, children 5 and under are free. Military persons with ID also get in for free.
The Forest Preserve recommends watching the fireworks next to the Lake of the Woods Pavillion, near the Little Golden Gate Bridge.
More information can be found on the Champaign Count Forest Preserve page.
Seymour will celebrate the Fourth of July with a parade and fireworks on July 4.
The popular parade full of tractors and candy begins at 10 a.m. Fireworks will be set off from the Seymour Fire Department beginning at dusk.
