M-SJHS volleyball rebounds to defeat Normal Chiddix

Both the Mahomet-Seymour seventh-and eighth-grade volleyball teams rebounded from a loss at home to Normal Kingsley on Wednesday (Jan. 12) with victories at home against Normal Chiddix on Thursday (Jan 13).
The seventh-graders topped Chiddix, 25-16, 25-22, a day after losing to Kingsley, 25-12, 25-17.
The eighth-graders, who have played three sets in each of their first three matches of the season, defeated Chiddix, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21 after suffering a loss to Kingsley, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17.
Both squads have 2-1 overall records and return to action on Thursday (Jan. 20) at Clinton.
Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Wrestling
Mahomet-Seymour opened the dual-meet portion of its season with back-to-back wins on the road.
The Bulldogs topped Normal Kingsley, 64-32, on Wednesday (Jan. 12) and Bloomington, 63-33, on Thursday (Jan. 13).
Eight M-S wrestlers won their matches each night, including four who posted pins each night: Colton McClure (100 pounds), Beau Back (105 pounds), Corey Bell (119 pounds) and Marco Casillas (135 pounds).
Also going 2-0 for the Bulldogs were Gideon Hayter (75 pounds), Peyton Mitchem (126 pounds), Phillip Daniels (185 pounds) and Noah Daniels (215 pounds).
Mitchem, Phillip Daniels and Noah Daniels each registered one pin as did four other teammates during the first two dual meets: Justus Vrona (95 pounds), Talon Decker (112 pounds), Joshua Craig (145 pounds) and Noah Franks (155 pounds).
M-S (2-0) returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 19) at George Evans Middle School.
