M-SJHS boys’ basketball off to strong start

The Bulldogs split two eighth-grade boys’ basketball games last week, winning at home over Charleston and losing at Normal Parkside. In its final pre-Thanksgiving game on Monday (Nov. 22), the eighth-graders rolled past Normal Chiddix at home, 55-19.
On Monday (Nov. 15), Parkside prevailed, 36-26. Landyn Hannah led M-S with 12 points. Cade Ashby and Max Young each added four points with Young nailing 4-of-4 free throws.
On Tuesday (Nov. 16), the Bulldogs hit a season-high for points scored with a 54-36 conquest of the Trojans.
Hannah became the first Bulldog with a 20-point game, popping in a game-high 22 points, including all six of his free throw attempts.
Jackson Bohm chipped in with 10 points. Ashby added eight points and Nolan Franz added seven points.
M-S trailed Charleston, 15-13, after one quarter, but Hannah hit two three-pointers and scored eight second-quarter points as the Bulldogs built a 27-23 lead at intermission.
On Monday (Nov. 22), M-S achieved another season-high for points, registering 55 against Chiddix.
Hannah tallied 19 points and was one of three Bulldogs to reach double figures. Franz dropped in 13 points and Ashby ended with 10 points.
The eighth-graders are 5-3.
The seventh-graders are 6-2 after scoring their second consecutive two-point win on Monday (Nov. 22) at home against Normal Chiddix, 42-40.
Bryson Tiefenthaler led the Bulldogs with 11 points. Paxson O’Malley tallied eight points while teammates Eli Dyer and Parker Henry each notched six points.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 30) at Champaign against St. Matthew.
