M-S wrestling finishes fourth at Bloomington Invitational

The Bulldogs opened their 2022 wrestling season on Saturday (Jan. 8), finishing fourth in the 13-school Bloomington Invitational.
First-place Homer had 302 ½ points. The Bulldogs ended with 203 points.
Four M-S competitors advanced into championship matches in their weight classes. The school had two champions.
At 95 pounds, Justus Vrona was 3-0 with pins in the semifinals and finals.
At 112 pounds, Talon Decker was 4-0 and posted three pins, including one in the finals.
Placing second for M-S were Colton McClure (2-1 at 100 pounds) and Marco Casillas (3-1 at 135 pounds).
Corey Bell (3-1 at 119 pounds) and Peyton Mitchem (3-1 at 126 pounds) both placed third.
Finishing fourth for the Bulldogs were Tate Kimball (2-2 at 95 pounds) and Phillip Daniels (1-2 at 185 pounds).
Fifth-place finishers for M-S were Beau Back (4-1 at 105 pounds) and Noah Franks (3-1 at 155 pounds).
Gideon Hayter (2-2 at 75 pounds), Liam Noonan (2-2 at 90 pounds), Jackson Davis (3-2 at 135 pounds) and Joshua Craig (3-2 at 145 pounds) all wound up in sixth place.
M-S returns to action on Wednesday (Jan. 12) at Normal Kingsley with dual meets against Kingsley and Lincoln.
