M-S Wrestling begins season with dual-meet wins

Three Bulldogs posted pins in both of their matches on Saturday (May 1) as M-S opened the wrestling season at home with dual-meet wins over Lawrenceville (67-9) and Pontiac (76-6).
At 145 pounds, both of Logan Hillard’s pins occurred in the first period. Braeden Heinold (152 pounds) also recorded two pins as did Daniel Renshaw (220 pounds).
Renshaw posted the team’s quickest fall for the day (32 seconds). Hillard and Heinold also had one pin apiece in less than a minute.
For the day, the Bulldogs won 25 of 28 matches, though 13 of the wins were due to forfeits.
Other Bulldogs who were 2-0 with one pin were Gage Granadino (170 pounds) and Stevie Pogue (195 pounds).
Also ending the day with two wins were Caden Hatton (106 pounds), Payton Ragona (126 pounds), Gage Decker (132 pounds), Tallen Pawlak (138 pounds), Brennan Houser (182 pounds) and Colton Crowley (285 pounds).
Bulldogs who were 1-1 for the day were Lukas Alstetter (113 pounds), Isabelle Leyhe (120 pounds) and Peyton Myers (160 pounds).
M-S (2-0) returns to action on Friday (May 7) at home against Champaign Central, St. Thomas More and Hoopeston Area.
