M-S Volleyball wins third tournament of 2019 season

Mahomet-Seymour volleyball won its third tournament of the season on Saturday, outdistancing all four opponents in two-set sweeps.
M-S started with a 25-11, 25-11 win over Marquette and followed with a 25-18 25-14 victory over Lewistown, and then a 25-14, 25-12 triumph over Lincoln before topping Auburn in the finals, 25-18, 25-23.
For the day, Kayin Garner distributed 79 assists to go with 16 digs and seven service aces.
Ainsley Ranstead clobbered 35 kills and had 16 digs. Lauren Minick had 24 kills and 28 digs.
The Bulldogs have won seven consecutive matches, all in two-set sweeps.
On Thursday, M-S defeated visiting Mattoon 25-19, 25-21.
Minick had 10 kills and eight digs for M-S. Makayla Rosenbery had four kills and three digs.
In the junior varsity match, M-S beat Mattoon 25-16, 25-23.
The Bulldogs (20-6 overall) return to action on Tuesday at Mount Zion. M-S is 6-2 in Apollo Conference matches.
The 20-win season is the second in the row for the Bulldogs. No M-S volleyball squad has won more than 21 matches since the 2006 team captured 26 wins.
