Mahomet-Seymour had a trio of volleyball players combine for nine service aces on Tuesday in a two-set home sweep over Lincoln.
The Bulldogs (12-9) won the Apollo Conference match 25-10, 25-15. M-S is 5-2 in conference action.
Ellie Beach, Kayin Garner and Ashley Wheeler each served up three aces.
Garner produced a match-high 18 assists.
Savannah Matthews led M-S in kills (nine) and digs (10).
Teammates Lauren Minick and Amber Yeakel each added three kills. Yeakel had a block.
Josie Hess had nine digs.
M-S, which has won two consecutive matches, returns to action tonight at Mattoon (25-4), an opponent it lost to in three sets at home.
Boys’ soccer
M-S and Urbana battled to a 1-1 draw on Monday at Middletown Field.
Austin Carr scored on a breakaway with 10 minutes remaining to lift the Bulldogs (9-2-4) into a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers (5-4-3) scored the equalizer in the final minute.
Carr has a team-high 12 goals.
In its last eight matches, M-S is 6-0-2 and has allowed six of the opponents no more than one goal.
The team returns to action today, hosting Charleston.
Boys’ golf
Alek Strube shot his season-best 18-hole score, 85, and finished in a tie for 13th place individually in Monday’s Apollo Conference Tournament at Effingham.
He had nine-hole rounds of 40 and 45.
M-S placed fifth in the team standings with a score of 375. Meet champion Charleston had a composite of 299.
Sam Mitchaner registered a 93. Other Bulldog scorers were Grant Harvey (95), Sawyer Daebelliehn (102), Brandon Collins (106) and Jameson Drinkwalter (111).
The top eight golfers earned all-conference accolades. It took an 82 to receive recognition.
The team returns to action on Tuesday in regional play at Rantoul.
Girls’ golf
Sarah Amjad fired a 99 and placed 11th in a 35-player field at Monday’s Apollo Conference Tournament at Pana’s Oak Terrace Golf Course.
Other Bulldog scores were: Emma Amjad (110), Jade Harms (120), Emma Yates (123), Sylvia Byron (124) and Cece Abramson (150).
Emma Amjad finished in 19th place and Harms ended in 23rd.
The Bulldogs were fourth in the team competition with a composite of 452. Effingham had a meet-low score of 343.
The team returns to action today at Mount Zion.
