M-S Volleyball sweeps Mt. Zion, Rodebaugh earns tournament recognition

Haylie Orton posted six kills and five blocks on Thursday (Sept. 9) as the Mahomet-Seymour volleyball team swept Mount Zion at home, 25-11, 25-17.
Maddie Gaede recorded 11 assists, five digs and one service ace.
The Bulldogs are 3-0 in Apollo Conference matches.
In the two-day Crossroads Classic, which ended on Saturday (Sept. 11) at Effingham, the Bulldogs won three of five matches.
M-S swept past Teutopolis (25-16, 25-21), Belleville Althoff (25-13, 25-10) and Massac County (25-19, 25-19).
The Bulldogs suffered losses to Breese Mater Dei (25-13, 25-20) and Wheaton St. Francis (16-25, 25-20, 15-9).
Junior outside hitter Grace Rodebaugh was chosen for the 12-person all-tournament team after helping M-S to third place in the Silver Pool.
M-S (12-3 overall) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 14) at Taylorville. All 12 of the Bulldogs’ wins have been in straight-set sweeps.
The Bulldogs beat Mount Zion in the junior varsity match, 25-11, 25-17 and the M-S freshmen were victorious over the Braves, 21-13, 21-16.
