M-S Volleyball Stays Unbeaten in Apollo Conference with 25-20, 25-23 Win Over Taylorville

In a showdown between the first-and second-place Apollo Conference volleyball teams, Mahomet-Seymour went to Taylorville on Thursday (Oct. 10) and captured a 25-20 25-23 victory.
The Bulldogs are 8-0 in conference matches. Taylorville is 6-2 with both losses to M-S.
Ellie Barker had nine kills and one service ace for the Bulldogs. Ellie Dallas distributed 10 assists.
The M-S junior varsity squad dropped a 25-21, 25-16 decision. The Bulldogs’ freshman team was victorious, 21-19, 19-21, 15-7.
M-S (20-2) returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 17) at Effingham.
The 20-win season is the sixth in a row in which a full varsity schedule was played. Due to COVID-19, the 2020-21 season had just 16 matches.

On Saturday (Oct. 12), the M-S junior varsity squad placed fourth in its own 16-team invitational.
The Bulldogs opened with pool play matches against Olympia (a win, 25-13, 25-21), Hoopeston Area (a win, 25-11, 25-4) and eventual champion Eureka (a loss, 25-13, 25-23).
In the medal play round, M-S defeated Prairie Central (26-24, 25-19) before losing to Pekin in the third-place match (25-22, 25-19).
