M-S Volleyball opens Apollo Conference play with win over Lincoln

Caylee Folken and Avery Allen landed double-doubles on Thursday at Lincoln as the Mahomet-Seymour volleyball team opened Apollo Conference play with a 25-23, 25-21 triumph.
Folken registered 11 assists and 10 digs.
Allen also had a monster night with 16 kills, 12 digs, one block and one service ace.
In JV action at Lincoln, the Bulldogs dropped a 28-26, 25-21 decision. The M-S freshmen beat Lincoln, 21-19, 21-13.
On Saturday (Sept. 3), M-S extended its season winning streak to seven overall and consecutive two-set wins to six before falling in the championship match of the Centennial Tournament to Bolingbrook, 25-23, 25-21.
In earlier matches, the Bulldogs dispatched Morton (25-14, 25-23), Mascoutah (25-23, 25-12) and Champaign Central (25-17, 27-29, 15-11).
For its four tournament matches, Maddie Gaede totaled 40 assists, Allen smacked 21 kills, Grace Rodebaugh had 19 kills and Sydney McKinney landed 16 kills.
McKinney also collected 11 blocks. Libby Bodine had 38 digs and Allen amassed 24 digs.
Allen also served nine aces.
M-S (7-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 6) at home against Mattoon.
Meanwhile on Saturday (Sept. 3), the Bulldogs JV team went 3-0 and won a tourney title at Champaign Central.
M-S topped Tuscola 25-9, 25-10, Effingham 24-26, 25-23, 15-10 and Lincoln 25-14, 25-22.
