M-S Tennis finishes ninth at first Sectional appearance

Mahomet-Seymour’s first-year boys’ tennis program won a match in singles and one in doubles on Friday (May 20) in the Danville Class1A Sectional.
In singles, M-S’ Connor Hirsbrunner opened the postseason with a 6-4, 7-5 decision over Liam Underwood, from Schlarman Academy.
Hirsbrunner was eliminated in the second round by Brandon Hood, from St Thomas More, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bulldogs’ other singles entry, Landon Nurmi, dropped a 6-0, 6-4 first-round decision to Ean McConkey, from Paris.
In doubles, M-S’ Jacob Atteberry and Braden Stacey blanked Danville’s Tristan Thomas and Camden O’Herron, 6-0, 6-0, in the first-round but were ousted in the second round by Urbana’s eventual state-qualifiers Deep Patel and Jack Solava, 6-0, 6-0.
The Bulldogs’ second doubles duo of Andre Grace and John Wanninger dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Charleston’s Vince DiNaso and Braden Pschirre.
M-S placed ninth in the 10-team field with two points.
