M-S Swimming wins three-school meet in Bloomington

Senior Eden Oelze and freshman Talynn O’Donnell each won two individual events and helped two relays to victory on Wednesday (Sept. 7) as Mahomet-Seymour was triumphant in a three-school girls’ swimming meet in Bloomington.
Oelze was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (30.79 seconds) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:16.82).
O’Donnell prevailed in the 200-yard individual medley (2:36.66) and the 400-yard freestyle (4:59.82).
They joined two other Bulldogs – Lainey Howard and Maddie Logsdon – for first-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay (2:19.97) and the 400-yard freestyle relay (4:38.47).
M-S amassed 132 points to win the meet. Bloomington Central Catholic was second (98), followed by Cornerstone Christian (29).
Four Bulldog swimmers secured runner-up finishes, including Logsdon and Howard.
Logsdon was second in the 100-yard butterfly (1:21.08) while Howard was second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:29.7).
Taylor Easter placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (34.30 seconds) and Shelby Raver was the runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle (1:22.45).
Also winding up in second place was the M-S 200-yard freestyle relay, which consisted of Kaleigh Holt, Raver, Reese Harrell and Easter. They had a combined time of 2:27.41.
Three M-S swimmers captured third place in individual events: Holt (200 freestyle in 3:06.81), Howard (200 individual medley in 2:47.05) and Logsdon (400 freestyle in 6:24.26).
M-S returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 14) at Centennial in a meet that will also include St. Thomas More.
