M-S Swimming wins five events at Normal

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming team won five events on Tuesday (Sept. 26) in a four-school meet at Normal Community and also established two lifetime bests and three season bests.
Lainey Howard and Talynn O’Donell were each double winners for M-S.
Howard recorded a season-best time of 2 minutes, 8.72 seconds in winning the 200-yard freestyle. She also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:18.45.
O’Donnell picked up wins in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.98) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.91).
The Bulldogs’ other event winner was Caroline Mills in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best 5:52.25.
The other M-S season-best was registered by Maddie Logsdon, who swam to a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (1:03.21).
Mills was the runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley (lifetime-best of 2:32.82) and Christina Peng established her best time ever in the 100-yard backstroke placing fourth in 1:20.31.
Other Bulldogs who placed fourth in an individual event were Logsdon (200-yard freestyle in 2:27.15), Claire Waggoner (50-yard freestyle in 30.84 seconds as well as in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:09.40) and Kayleigh Holt (100-yard butterfly in 1:20.28).
Two M-S relays fared well, including the runner-up 400-yard freestyle relay foursome of O’Donnell, Logsdon, Mills and Howard. Their cumulative time was 4:10.79.
The 200-yard freestyle grouping of Waggoner, Logsdon, Holt and Howard placed third in 2:00.84.
Normal Community was the meet winner with 427 points and was followed by Olympia (253), Urbana (244) and the Bulldogs (227).
M-S (2-5) returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 30) in the Peoria Notre Dame Invitational.
