M-S swimming places third at Centennial meet

Max Katz and Carter Logsdon each won individual events for the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ swim team on Saturday (Jan. 15) at a four-school meet at Centennial.
Katz was the top diver and also added on a sixth-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle.
Logsdon won the 100-yard butterfly.
In the team competition, Centennial amassed 211 points and took first. Runner-up Metamora had 173 points, followed by M-S (120) and Kewanee Wethersfield (18).
Three other Bulldogs were double placers in individual events.
Owen Kearns captured second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 200-yard freestyle. Mitch McAnally was third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle. Caden Raquel placed sixth in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard butterfly.
Mark Guttierez finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke and Aaron Smith was sixth in the 100-yard backstroke.
Logsdon, Smith, Kearns and McAnally teamed up to help the Bulldogs’ 400-yard freestyle relay to a runner-up placement.
M-S (8-4) returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 29) at the Urbana Invitational.
