M-S Swimming in top four at Urbana Invitational

Eden Oelze and Olivia McMurry each secured top four finishes in two individual events and helped two relays placed among the top four in Saturday’s Urbana University High Invitational.
M-S placed second in the eight-school meet.
Chicago University High was the team champion, scoring 413 points. The Bulldogs had 316 points. Third-place Urbana Uni High ended with 302 points.
Oelze had third-place finishes in both the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 34.82 seconds) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.18). McMurry took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (27.51) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:09.39).
The top Bulldog placer was diving runner-up Carly Raver. She totaled 158.15 points. Teammate Payton Turk was fourth in diving (154.05).
Miranda Marcelli and Kate Raver were other M-S competitors who were individual placers in two events.
Marcelli was fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:27.68) and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.42).
Kate Raver was seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (2:30.77) and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:06.34).
Olivia Ross added a seventh-place performance in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:27.88) and Bella Davenport was eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (7:40.49).
The 200-yard freestyle relay foursome captured third place in a time of 1:54.19. McMurry, Marcelli, Ross and Oelze were on the relay.
The same four swimmers helped the 200-yard medley to a fourth-place finish in 2:09.64.
The M-S 400-yard freestyle relay nabbed sixth place in 4:58.84. Teaming up on that relay were Kate Raver, Natalie Heaton, Turk and Davenport.
In the junior varsity portion of the meet, Chicago University High scored 538 to capture first place. M-S was fourth with 180 points.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Tuesday at Danville in a meet that also includes Charleston and Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
