M-S Swimming finishes seventh at Centennial Invitational

Talynn O’Donnell was the runner-up on Saturday (Sept. 16) in the 100-yard freestyle, helping Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming team to a seventh-place finish in the 15-school Centennial Invitational in Champaign.
O’Donnell’s time was 55.41 seconds. She also placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (35.43 seconds).
Meet champion Buffalo Grove amassed 445 ½ points. M-S totaled 176 ½ points.
O’Donnell was part of the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay. She teamed up with Lainey Howard, Claire Waggoner and Caroline Mills. Their cumulative time was 1:50.16.
The Bulldogs’ 400-yard freestyle foursome of O’Donnell, Madelyn Logsdon, Mills and Howard finished fourth in 4:06.23.
Other M-S athletes with top eight performances were Mills, Howard and Bella Almaroad.
Howard captured sixth-place finishes in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.08) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.09).
Mills placed eighth in the 500-yard freestyle (5:56.68) and ninth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.75).
Almaroad was sixth in the 11-dive event (269.20).
M-S returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 19) at Stanford Olympia.
