M-S Soccer shuts out Effingham

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ soccer team bounced back from a tie on Monday (Sept. 19) to shut out Effingham, 7-0, on Tuesday (Sept. 20).
Both matches were played in Mahomet at Middletown Field.
Against Effingham on Senior Night, seniors Caeden Simpson and Sebastian Chamorro staked M-S to a 2-0 lead at halftime with goals.
Goalkeepers Eli Stelle, a senior, and Charlie Hawley, a junior, shared in the shutout.
The other M-S goals were netted by Stelle, Isaac Warren, Nolan Wheeler and Mitchell McAnally.
Contributing assists were Warren (two), Wheeler (two), Kai Jones and Aaron Smith.
On Monday, the Bulldogs had a rematch with the team they defeated by seven goals on Saturday and wound up in a 1-1 draw. All of the scoring took place in the first half.
Wheeler scored for M-S, assisted by Jones. Zach Beyer registered five saves.
M-S (9-2-2) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 22) at home against Taylorville.
The JV Bulldogs improved to 7-0 with a 1-0 triumph over Effingham.
