Ivie Juarez and Cayla Koerner each scored 14 points on Thursday (Jan. 13) as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 53-37 non-conference victory at home over Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin.
Juarez also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
M-S jumped into a 20-9 first-quarter lead and carried a 44-33 edge into the final quarter. The Bulldogs’ defense made sure there would be no comeback by holding SH-G without a fourth-quarter field goal.
Savannah Orgeron made seven points and Chloe Pruitt contributed six points.
Nichole Taylor garnered five rebounds. Abigail Bunting collected six steals and Koerner finished with three steals.
M-S (16-4) returns to action on Monday (Jan. 17) at home against Lincoln.
