M-S Seniors capture fourth consecutive Regional Championship

The senior Class of 2019 became the first in M-S school history with four consecutive regional championships in girls’ soccer.
The Bulldogs earned No. 4 on Friday at Urbana, topping Centennial 7-2 in the finals.
The win advance M-S (24-1) into a Tuesday 5 p.m. semifinal match at Rochester against Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin.
Mackenzie Moore and Maddison Wade each scored twice for the Bulldogs against Centennial.
Moore hit the first and third goals as M-S built a three-goal advantage before the Chargers reached the scoreboard.
Also scoring for M-S were Brea Benson, Grace Lietz and Cayla Koerner.
Benson and Koerner had assists as did teammates Haley Lester, Kelsey Jacobs and Chloe Buzicky.
Goalkeeper Grace Larson had no saves.
Through 25 matches, M-S holds a 144-9 edge in goals scored over its opponents.
The Bulldogs’ 24th win extended a school record which was 21 prior to this season.
