It didn’t take long for the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ tennis program to make an impact in the area.

The team made its debut in the spring of 2022 with a 20-player roster and an abbreviated schedule consisting of five dual meets prior to the Apollo Conference tournament.

Twelve different players had matches in singles and 10 earned at least one win. In doubles, 13 different duos took the court and eight of them won matches. In all, 14 different squad members had matches in doubles.

Fast forward to Year 4 of the program, 2025.

The Bulldogs were 7-4-1 in dual meets and won the Apollo Conference Tournament, posting wins in 15 of 19 tourney matches between singles and doubles.

M-S had conference singles champions in four of six divisions. The other squad members took second and third. In doubles, the Bulldogs had one first-place finish and two runner-up performances.

At sectionals, the Bulldogs tied for fourth and produced state-qualifiers in doubles. At state, M-S totaled enough points to tie for 45th place overall.

That is a program rapidly on the move.
