M-S places third at Normal Community meet

Olivia McMurry was an individual winner for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ swimming team on Tuesday (Sept. 28) in a four-school meet at Normal Community.
McMurry registered a come-from-behind win in the 100-yard backstroke. She was edged out for first in the 50-yard freestyle.
Normal Community (213 points) captured team honors, followed by Stanford Olympia (128), M-S (116) and Urbana (85).
Teammate Eden Oelze produced runner-up finishes in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle, recording season-best times in each event.
Other individual standouts for the Bulldogs were Kate Raver (third in the 100-yard freestyle), Maddy Logsdon (third in the 100-yard butterfly), Kiera McCoy (fourth in the 200-yard freestyle) and Anna Lagacy (fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke).
Two of the M-S relays placed third. The 200-yard medley relay unit consisted of McMurry, Lagacy, Oelze and Raver.
The members of the 200-yard freestyle relay were Raver, Taylor Easter, Lagacy and McMurry.
M-S returns to action on Monday (Oct. 4) in a three-school meet at Danville.
