Senior Olivia McMurry and junior Eden Oelze were each individual winners on Monday (Oct. 4) in a four-team girls’ swimming meet at Danville.
McMurry captured top honors in the 100-yard backstroke to go with a runner-up performance in the 100-yard freestyle.
Oelze was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly and added a second in the 200-yard individual medley.
Oelze and McMurry were part of another win as they sparked a come-from-behind triumph for M-S in the 200-yard freestyle relay. They teamed up with Anna Lagacy and Kate Raver.
That same foursome also took second in the 200-yard medley relay.
Other M-S competitors who fared well were Raver (second in the 50-yard freestyle), Lagacy (third in the 100-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle), Maddy Logsdon (third in the 500-yard freestyle), Taylor Easter (fourth in the 200-yard freestyle and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle), and Kiera McCoy (fourth in the 200-yard freestyle).
Charleston was the meet winner, with 161 points. M-S was second with 135, followed by Urbana (123) and Danville (90).
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Oct. 9) in the Urbana Invitational.
