M-S places fifth at Mount Zion track meet

Mahomet-Seymour had eight individuals and three relays who secured top-10 finishes on Wednesday (March 2) in a 15-school indoor girls’ track and field meet at Mount Zion.
Mount Zion totaled 148 points and captured team honors. Chatham Glenwood was second (105 points), followed by Sacred Heart-Griffin (56 points), Springfield (51 points) and M-S (49 points).
Ariana Lingard ran second in the 60 meters (8.25 seconds) and third in the 200 meters (28.54 seconds).
Elizabeth Sims and Emily Bednar finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 800 meters. Sims was timed in 2:42.67 and Bednar ended at 2:46.11.
Chloe Allen was fifth in the 400 meters (1:08.72) and Callie Jansen was seventh in the 1,600 meters (6:08.91).
In the field events, Kelsie Fuoss was ninth in the pole vault (2.10 meters) and Kendyl Petro was 10th in the shot put (8.26 meters).
The top-placing M-S relay was the 3,200-meter foursome of Allen, Bednar, Ava Boyd and Sims. They took second in 10:40.00.
The 1,600-meter quartet was fourth in 4:36.51. Sharing the baton were Boyd, Chloe Bundren, Jansen and Allen.
The 800-meter relay ended in seventh (2:04.57). The runners were Hannah Hofbauer, Isabelle Scheele, Fuoss and Kara Carney.
M-S will return to action on Saturday (March 12) in the Apollo Conference indoor meet at Mount Zion.
