Eight Bulldogs had either a goal or an assist on Tuesday as M-S blitzed Effingham 7-1, expanding a slender one-goal halftime lead with five second-half goals.
Junior Logan Woodward had two goals and two assists. He opened the scoring, taking a pass from Luke Creel.
Kadyn Jones scored on a free kick to lift M-S into a 2-1 cushion at intermission. Jones has a total of 44 points (goals or assists) for his varsity career.
Other goal-scorers for the Bulldogs were Clayton Gibson, Sam Henrichs, Jacob Janda and Nate Lundstrom.
Henrichs and Lundstrom had assists as did Matthew Sims.
Keagon Ashby picked up three saves.
“The boys’ first-half attack was at times selfish and at times a bit too predictable,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “In the second half, it had the delicious complexity of a fine balsamic.
“The attack came from wide places. It came from high places. It came from low places. At the end of the day, the Bulldogs feasted, closing the game with five goals in the second half.”
There was no JV game on Tuesday.
M-S (9-2-1 overall) returns to action today at home against Taylorville. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in Apollo Conference matches, outscoring those opponents 29-8.
