M-S indoor track kicks off season with wins

Mahomet-Seymour swept the top two positions on Monday (Jan. 31) in an indoor non-scored season-opening boys’ track and field meet at home against Fisher.
Cole Marshall was a three-event winner for the Bulldogs. He took top honors in the long jump (18 feet, 8 inches), the 60-meter dash (6.87 seconds) and the 200-meter run (24.99 seconds).
In the 60, he just edged DeAngelo Hughey (6.88 seconds). Valient Walsh was second in the 200 meters (25.21 seconds) and Gabe Labbe was the runner-up in the long jump (18 feet, ½ inch).
Marshall was the only multiple winner for M-S.
In the high jump, Bulldogs Josh Franklin and David Andrawes each cleared 4 feet, 8 inches.
Ty Clark captured first place in the pole vault (11 feet), followed by Alex Carpenter (8 feet, 8 ½ inches).
Robert Byron was victorious in the shot put (40 feet, 3 ½ inches) with Sam Garber reserving the second-place spot (37 feet, 6 inches).
Jonah Singer (50.63 seconds) outstepped Tyler Lewis (51.53 seconds) to win the 400 meters.
In the 800 meters, Kyle Nofziger was timed in 2:11.11 with Blake Dillman his closest pursuer (2:18.78).
The Bulldogs return to action at their indoor fieldhouse on Thursday (Feb. 10) in another mini meet.
