M-S girls’ swimming cruises past Urbana and Danville

Mahomet-Seymour girls’ swimming won four individual events and one relay on Monday and cruised to team honors in a three-school meet at Danville.
The Bulldogs accumulated 121 points to outdistance Danville (91) and Urbana (48).
Olivia McMurry was a two-event winner for M-S.
She was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (27.46 seconds) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.43).
Olivia Ross won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:30.83) and Carly Raver was the diving champion (157.50 points).
M-S also captured the meet-ending 400-yard freestyle relay. Teaming up for success were Eden Oelze, Miranda Marcelli, McMurry and Kate Raver.
Their combined time was 4:26.86.
Oelze and Marcelli each had runner-up performances in two other individual events.
Oelze was second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:35.23) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:07.20).
Marcelli was second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:27.20) and the 100-yard backstroke (115.62).
Payton Turk was the runner-up in diving (143.05 points) and teammate Anna Lagacy took second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:34.69).
Grace Larson was also a double-placer, capturing fourth in both the 100-yard butterfly (1:29.41) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.81).
Natalie Heaton was third in the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.11). Kate Raver was fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (3:02.72) and Ross earned fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (31.60).
M-S returns to action on Saturday in the Urbana Invitational.
