M-S girls’ swimming competes to raise money for CU at Home

Mahomet-Seymour girls’ swimming won two events and placed among the top four in 15 of 16 relay races on Saturday at the CUHOMES event, which raised $815 for C-U at Home.
Central was the meet champion (284 points), followed by Urbana Uni High (272), M-S (222), Urbana (164) and St. Thomas More (61).
The Bulldogs won the four-person 100-yard medley and the two-person women’s 15-and-over 2X100 backstroke event.
The medley was timed in 1 minutes, 10.90 seconds. The swimmers were Natalie Heaton, Anna Lagacy, Bella Davenport and Payton Turk.
The backstroke swimmers were Miranda Marcelli and Olivia McMurry. They were timed in 2:22.78. The duo ended in an identical tie with Urbana Uni High for the top spot.
M-S was the runner-up in three events.
The Bulldogs were second in the women’s 15-and-over 200 medley with Marcelli, Olivia Ross, Eden Oelze and McMurry teaming up for a time of 2:13.78.
The Bulldogs were also second in the 2X50 backstroke relay race with Natalie Mitchell and Heaton. Their collective time was 1:26.16.
M-S was also the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke relay. Teaming up for a time of 1:32.00 were Heaton, Lagacy, Davenport and Turk.
In eight relay races, M-S finished in third place.
The women’s 15-and-over 2X200 freestyle relay consisted of Heaton and Davenport. Their time was 5:54.88.
The women’s 15-and-over 2X200 medley was also third, featuring Oelze and Marcelli. They were timed in 5:34.78.
The women’s 15-and-over 2X50 freestyle unit of Skye Rodgers and Turk ended third in 1:05.31.
The 2X50 butterfly duo of Davenport and Kate Raver was third in 1:19.78.
The M-S 15-and-over 2X100 butterfly relay was the runner-up in 2:24.44. The swimmers were Oelze and McMurry.
The women’s 15-and-over 2X100 freestyle relay of Heaton and Raver placed third in 2:29.07.
M-S also excelled in two distance relays.
Finishing in third was the 500-yard freestyle relay foursome of Carly Raver, Davenport, Turk and Mitchell. They were timed in 3:00.38.
In the women’s 15-and-over 500-yard freestyle, Oelze, McMurry, Ross and Rodgers were third in 5:50.22.
M-S placed fourth in two events.
The 2X100 medley duo of Ross and Kate Raver was fourth in 2:53.23.
Ross and Marcelli were fourth in the women’s 15-and-over 200 breaststroke relay. They were timed in 3:11.90.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday at Lincoln in a meet that also includes Peoria Manual and Peoria Central.
