M-S Girls’ Swim Team Breaks Four School Records to Win Urbana Invitational, O’Donnell and Almaroad Shine

Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ swimming and diving team broke four school records on Saturday (Oct. 12) and won the nine-school Urbana Invitational.
M-S accumulated 508 points. Runner-up Chicago University High totaled 481 points.
Diver Bella Almaroad shattered her own school standard in the 1-meter event with a score of 346.30. She placed second.
Talynn O’Donnell lowered her own school record in the 100-yard freestyle, winning the race in a time of 53.47 seconds.
The Bulldogs broke two records in relays.
The first-place 3 200-yard freestyle relay foursome of Talynn O’Donnell, Lainey Howard, Caroline Mills and Raegan O’Donnell were timed in 1:40.95. The previous mark, set earlier this season, was 1:42.50.
The winning 400-yard freestyle relay unit of Raegan O’Donnell, Mills, Karsyn Johnson and Talynn O’Donnell recorded a school-record time of 3:43.93.
Raegan O’Donnell was victorious in two individual races: 50-yard freestyle (24.47 seconds) and 500-yard freestyle (5:17.23). Talynn O’Donnell won a second race as well, beating the field in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.53).
Also earning a win was Johnson (100-yard backstroke in 1:02.69).
Johnson annexed a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.07). Callie Lu was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12.66).
The M-S 200-yard medley relay also placed second. The featured swimmers were Johnson, Lu, Maddie Logsdon and Howard. Their cumulative time was 1:58.53.
Mills ended third in two races: 200-yard freestyle (2:01.64) and 500-yard freestyle (5:37.77).
Capturing fourth in two events was Howard (50-yard freestyle in 26.18 seconds and 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.13).
Lu turned in a fifth-place performance in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.40). Logsdon was sixth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:11.78).
Grace Rose registered seventh-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:23.05) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:16.51).
Waggoner was eighth in the 100-yard freestyle (1:02.30) and ninth in the 50-yard freestyle in 27.65 seconds.
Logsdon took eighth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:39.30) and Kayleigh Holt placed ninth in the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.58).
The Bulldogs also had two relay units take eighth.
The 200-yard medley relay of Holt, Waggoner, Romy Hernandez and Mia Saba was timed in 2:16.09.
The 200-yard freestyle relay was eighth in 1:59.63. The foursome included Hernandez, Holt, Saba and Lu.
M-S (49-5 for all meets) returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Peoria against Pekin and Peoria Notre Dame.
