M-S girls’ cross country finishes second at Charleston Invite

Senior Ava Boyd placed third for Mahomet-Seymour’s girls’ cross-country team on Saturday (Sept. 2) in the Charleston Invitational.
Her 3-mile time was 18:52.05.
In a race with 156 participants, six other teammates finished among the top 40.
Freshman Taylor Mills was 17th (20:13.94), junior Chloe Bundren was 31st (20:45.46), freshman Jaci Kellenberger was 28th (21:15.71), sophomore Hadley Grotelueschen was 36th (21:57.78), junior Emma Frazier was 38th (22:02.99) and freshman Zoey Wallace was 40th (22:04.72).
M-S took second in the 15-school event.
Team honors were won by Mount Zion (63 points). M-S was second (103 points), followed by Effingham (105 points).
Other Bulldog running leaders were Morgan Waisath (51st in 22:39.51), Ava Jansen (56th in 23:00.86), Emmaline Culp (66th in 23:48.75), Camryn Nelson (71st in 23:52.79), Emily Ramirez (73rd in 23:53.81), Jinan Abdo (74th in 23:54.45), Caroline Allen (78th in 24:16.35) and Lauren Bednar (79th in 24:21.11).
M-S will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 9) in the First to Finish Race at Peoria’s Detweiller Park.
