M-S falls short against Charleston
By Fred Kroner
The storyline is not changing for the short-handed Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team.
The Bulldogs continue to play teams close before falling short at the end. When M-S dropped a 42-41 decision on Tuesday (Dec. 7) at Charleston, it marked the fourth loss of the season for the team.
Those setbacks have been by a combined total of eight points, including two one-point losses.
Against Charleston, M-S kept its turnover count low (five), hit free throws (14 of 16) and outrebounded the Trojans (30-22), but was done in by 1-for-15 accuracy from three-point range.
Quenton Rogers scored a game-high and season-high 19 points for the Bulldogs. He was 7-for-7 from the foul line and also hauled down six rebounds.
Blake Wolters chipped in with 15 points and led M-S with nine rebounds. Adam Dyer had a team-high three assists and was 3-for-3 from the free throw line to account for all of his points.
M-S (3-4) returns to action on Friday (Dec. 10) at home against Effingham.
