M-S drops Apollo Conference opener against Mattoon

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team suffered its third loss on Thursday (Dec. 2) by no more than four points.
M-S dropped its Apollo Conference opener at home against Mattoon, 35-33.
The Bulldogs led, 13-10, after one quarter, 22-15 at halftime and 28-26, after three quarters.
Blake Wolters tallied a team-high 11 points. Teammate Wyatt Bohm cleared a team-high 11 rebounds.
Quenton Rogers scored six points, Dayten Eisenmann had five points and Nick Golden contributed four points.
On Saturday (Dec. 4) at Mount Zion, the Bulldogs needed another late-game comeback to salvage a 53-45 Apollo Conference victory.
M-S trailed, 17-10, after one quarter and 41-35 after three quarters, but used an 18-4 final-period run to pull out the win.
Wolters was the team’s top scorer for the sixth game in a row, collecting 21 points to go with six rebounds.
Quenton Rogers netted 15 points and was 7-for-10 from the free throw line. Dream Eagle contributed five points, five assists and four rebounds. Wyatt Bohm cleared five rebounds.
M-S (3-3) returns to action on Tuesday (Dec. 7) at Charleston.
