M-S Bulldog Club competes in unofficial state meet

Students from Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School, representing the M-S Bulldog Club, placed ninth on Sunday in the unofficial girls’ junior high state cross-country meet, in Chillicothe.
The invitation-only event was sponsored by ShaZam Racing, and was held as a one-class event. Twenty-one full teams participated.
The seven runners from the M-S Bulldog Club finished the 2-mile course within 45 seconds of one another. The split between the top five (scoring runners) was 29 seconds.
Setting the pace for the M-S Bulldog Club was eighth-grader Ava Jansen, who finished 52nd in the 164-runner race. Her 2-mile time was 13 minutes, 10.22 seconds.
Following her were teammates Taylor Mills, a sixth-grader, (75th in 13:34.12), Chloe Bundren, an eighth-grader, (80th in 13:35.22), Madalyn Marx, a seventh-grader, (81st in 13:36.57), Hadley Grotelueschen, a seventh-grader, (86th in 13:39.09), Phoebe Truax, an eighth-grader, (106th in 13:54.55) and Haley Reed, a seventh-grader, (108th in 13:55.63).
Among sixth-graders at the unofficial state meet, Mills ran ninth.
Sunday’s race was the final one of the cross-country season.
