Lincoln Trail succeeds at Science Olympiad tournament
The Lincoln Trail Science Olympiad team brought 16 medals from 10 of the total 12 events home to Mahomet-Seymour after participating in a tournament in Arlington Heights Saturday.
The 36 fourth and fifth-grade students have prepared for two events each with an Event Mentor during practices since November. Students could choose from A is for anatomy, Build a Barge, Write it Do it, Trajectory, Experimental Design, Fossil Frenzy, Weather, Circuit Wizardry, Backyard Biologist, Crime Busters, Tower of Terror, and Ready Aim Fire.
This year’s team included: Carter Alderks, Gigi Bohn, Dominic Bruns, Landon Busch, June Coleman, Noah Crane, Annie Culp, Alex DeAtley, Rylee Ellis, Mason Floress, Owen Gerber, Addie Hirsbrunner, Quintin Kawakita, Draw Lambert, Anna Lybarger, Arya Malapaka, Annika McLaugnlin, Daniel Meerdink, Liam Page, Sophie Park, Penelope Porter, Emily Ramirez, Ollie Raquel, Julianne Risser, Alice Schleicher, Adam Smigielski, Elliott Smith, Finley Smith, Megan Smith, Amelia Snodgrass, Ruijing Tang, Jack VanHoorn, Sarah Wang, Elaina Webb, Cohen Wenger, Lilah Windingland.
Coaches Kayla Smith, Lisa Raquel and Kayla Smith were joined by volunteers Curtis Marshall, Stacey Clementz, Meg Loven, Eric Snodgrass, Leslie Smith, John Meerdink, Greg VanHoorn, Heather Jackson, Amy Nicely, Kim Bode, Warren Raquel and Liza Raquel.
June Coleman and Rylee Ellis helped design the t-shirts that Christie Clinic provided the team.
