Lincoln Lecture series kicks off with portrayal of Harriet Tubman Sunday
The Museum of the Grand Prairie will kick off the 10th Annual Lincoln Lecture Series with a lecture titled “Harriet Tubman: Leader to Freedom” on October 1 at 2 p.m.
Kathryn Harris, retired director of Library Services at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, will take on the persona of a former slave who, after winning her own freedom, became a conductor on the Underground Railroad in the mid-1800s. In numerous trips back into the South, Harriet Tubman helped more than 300 slaves, including her own parents, escape to the North.
