Letter to the Editor: Please Support MAARC

Growing up I didn’t learn how to swim due to culture and lack of money. But I believe everyone should know how to swim, just in case. When I became a mother I made sure both of my girls learned swimming at an early age before the fear kicked in. I raised my daughters in Mahomet where there was no public swimming pool so I put them in private lessons which I was very lucky to be able to do. But not everyone can do that. My family and I always wished that Mahomet would have a public pool. I kept hearing about Mahomet planning to have a public pool and very recently, I learned that, “the plans for the new pool along with the Mahomet Area Activity and Recreation Center (MAARC) are moving forward”.

How exciting is that? Our kids will have a place to learn how to swim and have fun with their family and friends. Please support MAARC.
