Lauren Nelson receives 2023 Lee Jessup Leadership Award and Scholarship

Mahomet-Seymour graduate Lauren Nelson received the 2023 Lee Jessup Leadership Award and Scholarship provided by the MAYC Foundation.

Established in 2018, the Lee Jessup Youth Leadership Award and Scholarship celebrates Mahomet-Seymour students dedicated to pursuing higher education. Like other recipients, Nelson received the scholarship by participating in or volunteering with the MAYC organization and providing community service. With the scholarship, she will receive $500 annually, a total of $2000 while she is in college. 

Jessup was a principal at Lincoln Trail Elementary and an original member of the MAYC board who went on to help establish the MAYC Foundation in 2016. The Foundation recognizes Lee as “a life-long educator in our community who inspired countless young minds to serve their communities and reach for

their dreams.”
