Kearns, Varga and McAnally win individual events

Freshman Owen Kearns won two individual events on Tuesday (Feb. 23), helping the Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in a three-school boys’ swimming meet at Lincoln College.
Kearns was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle.
Springfield rolled up 134 points to capture team honors. M-S was next with 116 points and Lincoln totaled 35 points.
Two other Bulldogs won individual events as did one relay.
Freshman Aron Varga was triumphant in the 200-yard individual medley. Sophomore teammate Mitch McAnally took top honors in the 50-yard freestyle.
McAnally also anchored the winning 200-yard freestyle relay, which also included Carter Logsdon, Mark Guttierez and Zach Orr.
Other top M-S placers were Varga (second in the 100-yard backstroke), Orr (second in the 100-yard breaststroke), Logsdon (third in the 100-yard butterfly) and Guttierez (third in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke).
M-S (4-2) returns to action on Saturday.
